UHD SPAIN association created with 30 founding members
The association “UHD Spain”, created to promote in Spain the 4K, 8K and new technologies related to Ultra High Definition (UHD), has held its founding ceremony at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) with 30 entities and companies of the Spanish and international audiovisual sector first level, which places from today to Spain at the same organizational level that already have Germany, France, Italy and Britain in UHD.
The objective of “UHD Spain”, which is an initiative of the Andalusian production company Medina Media, organizer since 2015 of the 4K HDR Summit, is to promote 4K, 8K, HDR, Next Generation Audio and new audiovisual technologies in Spain so that consumers receive content with the highest possible quality.
Unlike the rest of the other European associations, “UHD Spain” will have the peculiarity of being the only one that has the support of the three most important organizations worldwide: The UHD Alliance, the Ultra HD Forum and the 8K Association, in which it will be integrated soon to have access to all its activities and advances.
As regulated by Spanish law for non-profit associations, in the same act of constitution the statutes were approved and the first Board of Directors was elected, which will be composed of six entities: RTVE, Cellnex, Mediapro, Hispasat, Ametic and Medina Media, and chaired by the director of planning and technological innovation of Radio Televisión Española (RTVE), Pere Vila.
UHD Spain” has been joined since its inception by leading Spanish companies in the sector such as Atresmedia, Lavinia, Grupo ADM, Grupo Secuoya, Hurí, Henneo; technology companies such as Tedial, Televés, Axión, Sapec, Egatel, Tredess, Gsertel and Telecom-CLM; the manufacturers’ association AMETIC; the association representing private television stations UTECA; the National Federation of telecommunications installers and integrators FENITEL and the association of telecommunications installers, design, engineering, manufacturing, distribution, integration and operators FECOTEL; as well as the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM); and multinationals with a presence in Spain such as Ateme, Canon, Dolby, Fraunhofer, Rohde & Schwarz and Vestel.
