UHD Spain, the association that promotes Ultra High Definition in Spain, has been present for the second consecutive year at the international fair ‘NAB Show 2023’ held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 15 to 19 April. In this edition, 16 members of the association participated.
Ateme, Agile Content, AMETIC, Canon, Dolby, Egatel, Fraunhofer IIS, Gsertel, Mediapro, Rohde & Schwarz, Synamedia, Optiva Media, Tedial, Sapec, Televes and TRedess, members of UHD Spain, have presented their innovations at the world’s largest annual conference for broadcast, entertainment and technology professionals. This edition has been particularly special as it commemorated 100 years since its birth.
UHD Spain members present their latest innovations
Among the proposals presented by the members of UHD Spain, Sapec demonstrated the UHD decoding capacity with the LAGUNA models and the improvement in their performance through the new LMP2004 and LMP2008 equipment.
They also premiered GREDOS II, a solution ready to combine encoding functions with a terrestrial modulator and SIVAC-ONE, a real-time HEVC/H.265 encoding/decoding solution up to 2160p50/60 4K UHD, which receives the widely demanded SRT functionality.
Numerous innovative solutions were presented at the event, including Tedial’s ‘smartWork’ media integration platform together with its ‘smartPacks’ (Package Business Capabilities), the Cloud-native-end-to-end processing proposed by Ateme or the new solutions presented by TRedess, ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0.
How to captivate audiences, increase profitability and retain consumers were the central themes of the show, as well as the premises of Ateme and Agile Content with their proposals for attractive TV content that captures viewers at the highest level.
In addition, Optiva Media has also offered its OTT, XR and software development products and services at NAB Show to attract more audience and reach new revenues; and Egatel has brought to the West Hall its TV transmitters equipped with the highest efficiency.
As for the new features presented, Fraunhofer IIS demonstrated the possibilities of MPEG-H audio, which will be integrated to Wohler monitors after announcing its collaboration in the event. Precisely, the new generation MPEG-H audio was one of the topics covered in the last video meeting of UHD Spain, which can be viewed in the free area of the website Your UHD zone.
For its part, Gsertel has two new additions to its range of monitoring (RCS ATSC and RCS Radio FM), Mediapro has shown its latest bets in audiovisual engineering and mobile units and Synamedia has brought to Las Vegas its innovations in the broadcasting of sports and events.
The 5G was also present at NAB 2023 with one of the big bets of Rohde & Schwarz: the retransmission of a broadcast channel continues via 5G broadcast during the event to show how to broadcast videos without consuming mobile bandwidth.
On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that Canon has been awarded at the show as winner of the fifth edition of the ‘Product of the Year Awards’ in the category of ‘Camera Stands, Control and Accessories’ for the Canon Flex Zoom lenses – CN-E14-35mm T1.7 L S/SP and the CN-E31.5-95mm T1.7 L S/SP cinema lens.
Spanish participation in NAB 2023 has been coordinated once again by AMETIC with the support of ICEX, managing to convene numerous national companies in the sector.
With the attendance of its members to an event of such magnitude, UHD Spain continues the international projection plan marked since its foundation. The association, which continues to work to promote the “television of the future” and launch Ultra High Definition in Spain, already has 40 companies in the Spanish audiovisual sector.
Thus, the presence of the members of UHD Spain in Las Vegas is an important boost in the objectives of the association as NAB 2023 brings together leading international organizations linked to UHD and 4K and the latest developments in the industry.
